Dr. Debbie Clarke

PT, DPT, CFC, CIDN, CCTT

As a seasoned physical therapist, I know the most effective approach to treatment includes quality time with patients and an application of a comprehensive, individualized treatment methodology. Simply put, I look beyond the area of pain to find the true source.

To create a space for my vision for treatment, I founded Cranial Pain Solutions—a private physical therapy practice dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of head, neck, and TMJ pain and disorders. The focus is one-on-one time with each patient to create an individualized treatment plan.

To treat, I utilize a combination of manual techniques, such as joint and soft tissue mobilization, dry needling, myofascial release, and facilitation of proper movement patterns. This promotes healing and independence for a full return to daily function.

I have experienced headaches since my teenage years along with neck and jaw pain in adulthood. My personal journey created a deep desire to understand and study the therapeutic treatments for these conditions.

I attended the University of Cincinnati for a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Physical Therapy. I also obtained a Doctorate of Physical Therapy with a focus on in-depth study of the craniofacial region, cervical spine, and TMJ from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. I have two Certifications in Cranio-Facial Physical Therapy including Cranio-Facial Certified (CFC) and Certified Cervical & Temporomandibular Therapist (CCTT). These have advanced my training in the evaluation and hands-on treatment for the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), cervical and upper thoracic spine, facial pain, and headaches.

Dr. Sarah Begley

PT, DPT

Through my education and personal experiences, I have developed a passion for helping others find relief from chronic pain and dysfunction. I am dedicated to providing high-quality, individualized care to each of my patients and strive to empower them to take control of their own health and well-being.

I have honed my skills in treating a wide range of orthopedic and neurological deficits. I utilize a variety of manual therapy techniques and dry needling to alleviate pain and reduce any joint or soft tissue restrictions.

I believe it is important to then challenge the neuromuscular system to improve neuroplasticity through purposeful movement. I also enjoy connecting with my clients to help motivate them and help them reach their goals to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle full of joy.

I am a graduate of the University of Cincinnati where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in Exercise Movement. I then went on to pursue my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Campbell University in 2018.

Debbie is awesome. She has helped me tremendously with my neck pain and TMJ.
Life changing pain relief. The pain returns in about a month, but my case is probably harder as an accident was cause
I went to my dentist for TMJ and he sent me to another dentist who specialized in TMJ. After her thorough exam and treating me she also highly recommended Dr. Clarke and Dr.Sarah for physical therapy for TMJ.I can not believe the difference the PT made in relieving my pain. I had several office visits and home exercises which help tremendously. I am very thankful for Dr. Sarah’s expertise in this field.
I've had trouble with TMJ for over 20 years, and I can honestly say after completing my treatment at Cranial Pain Solutions I feel better than I have in decades. The staff is lovely and caring. I highly recommend their services.
Long review warning so incase you don’t read it all, let’s just start with saying Debbie has been an absolute Godsend for me and I’m incredibly thankful for her.I’ve suffered from TMJ for over a decade and after exploring every avenue, I wound up at UC with my final options being PT (through a corporate PT company), steroid injections every three months followed by surgery if no improvement. I attended PT as recommended and saw virtually no change - important to note that this type of PT was a quick in and out, copy and paste regimen that was not led by anyone after they “taught” me stretches the first time. I really didn’t want to begin steroid shots for the rest of my life and wanted to find a more natural approach, and that’s when I discovered Debbie.I’ve been seeing Debbie for almost a year now and the improvement with my TMJ issues is truly incredible. Before seeing Debbie, I lived with migraines round the clock, I couldn’t eat basic foods without my jaw having spasms and me holding it with tears and I had to cut sandwiches and burgers into small bites and shove it in my mouth because I couldn’t open my jaw up wide enough. The first few sessions with Debbie I was hopeful, but didn’t see an immediate change. After about three sessions, it was like the floodgates opened and the pain and tension just started draining away. I had a decade plus of clenching, grinding and damage that needed help being undone before a difference was noticed. I believe it’s important to mention this and be honest because if you do go and see Debbie, don’t give up if the first few sessions don’t solve your pain. Be consistent and trust in the process and I promise you will be so glad you stuck with it!Debbie also cares about you not only as a patient but as a person. She genuinely cares and is so kind. Every visit she starts by getting new measurements, discussing your concerns and setting a new baseline. There is no copy and paste session because she is always modifying your appointment based on what changes and symptoms you are exhibiting. She advocates for your health alongside you and we all know how hard that is to find with healthcare professionals these days. I cannot overstate how vital Debbie has become in my health journey!I will also note that my husband has chronic back pain and he sees Tina through the office as well. While I cannot attest to her services, my husband has stated how much of a blessing she has been for him. He use to complain multiple times an hour how much pain he was in and couldn’t hold our young children or walk far without his back seizing up. I owe Tina a huge thank you for seeing the change in my husbands physical and emotional demeanor and helping him get his life back. This is the place for you!
Dr. Clarke was incredible to work with. I started coming to her months ago with tmj pain and after each session I felt relief. She also taught me things I could do at home that helped even further. I could not recommend her enough and am forever grateful that I found her. Thank you Dr. Clarke for everything!!
Just do it! As a younger guy who was skeptical about seeking help for TMJ pain, I can assure you Debbie has been a huge help in alleviating my symptoms and I can’t thank her enough!
I was pleased with my initial contact with Christy at the front desk and her kindness in scheduling my first appointment and answering questions. I just had my first visit with Dr. Debbie. Not only was she kind and patient, the time she spent with me was amazing and so informative. I learned so much about my condition and will follow up with recommended exercises and therapy. Jan Hill
Debbie Clarke is amazing, she's really helped me with my TMJ pain and she's such a kind and patient person. I highly recommend her!!
Dr. Debbie Clarke is the best doctor. She cured my TMJ pain.
The office manager is super friendly! She is on top of making sure to get appointments scheduled, even reaches out when there are openings for earlier times. Really helpful to the patients! Dr. Clarke is amazing! Listens to the concerns and issues you are having. Gives great direction on at home things to do. Explains everything she is doing during appointment. I will be referring patients to her!
She CURED my TMJ which I've had since childhood. Always an overall excellent experience!
My experience here getting therapy for my TMJ was wonderful - Debbie was so positive and friendly, listened to my individual needs and tailored her suggestions accordingly, and gave me the techniques/exercises to do at home to keep my jaw pain from flaring up. Would highly recommend!!
Although I was referred to Dr. Clarke by my dentist for TMJ issues, I also suffer from chronic migraines and neck pain. I am so grateful for that referral! In addition to her incredible knowledge, skill and experience, Dr. Clarke is also friendly, kind and compassionate. Her in-office treatments and home exercise program have all combined to reduce my pain and give me an improved quality of life. I highly recommend her services.
Debbie Clarke is simply wonderful! So kind, compassionate, thorough, and extremely knowledgeable.
My daughter was referred to Debbie for TMD (TMJ) and we found our experience To be a very positive one. You will find her to be very friendly, easy to work with knowledgeable, and professional. She brings a unique skill set, and during your time with her, she does a very nice job of educating you about your situation. She provides exercises that you can do at home to progress between your visits with her.We were very pleased to see the progress my daughter made.
I am grateful for Dr. Clarke. She has helped manage my TMJ pain through body work, dry needling, teaching stretches and techniques, reminding me how my posture is so important (especially working in dentistry), to drink water, and to BREATHE. I had carried years of chronic pain in my traps and shoulders due to high levels of stress and I was also having more frequent migraines. Once I saw Dr. Clarke a few times and implemented her suggestions for home care, pillows, and a foam roller, I started noticing a huge difference. In my second session I had an emotional release; it was then that I knew that the emotional pain I had been experiencing would also dissipate with continued sessions. If I get a flare up I now know what to do and that I can count on her to guide me to healing. I thank God for her and all she has done to help me and so many people with their journey to a more balanced life.
I came to Dr. Clarke with a lot of jaw pain and TMJ trouble. In just two sessions with her so far, I have learned so much about treating these problems, and I’ve been able to put into practice meaningful exercises that have given me noticeable improvement. She is exceptionally skilled at meeting patients on a personal level and working with them within their comfort zone. I highly recommend Dr. Clarke and Cranial Pain Solutions.
I’ve had back issues coming from my occupation and I tried a lot to get muscular relief but nothing helped. I’ve tried icy, hot, stretches, chiropractor, deep muscle, massages every week, etc. and I never got completely. I always thought I just never could find the right massage therapist for my deep tissue needs. Debbie was providing and continuing education course to a group of my colleagues and I. She introduced us to the idea of how everything is connected starting in the craniofacial area and how alignment factors into it.After the course I understood how she could help my patients but didn’t think about how she could help. I found myself increased muscular, tightness, and discomfort that amounted to interfering with my daily activities and decided to see if her services could help me. It was the best experience and relief that I have ever gotten. She did dry needling on my muscles in my back, and it was everything I was looking for in all of the other courses of therapy that I had tried in the past, but never successful in. I was skeptical in the beginning but after the first time, I saw Debbie she instantly provided relief to me. Now I drive 50 minutes to see her monthly and have never felt better!
I was referred to Debbie by my dentist for jaw pain. Immediately I knew it was the right fit! Debbie is incredibly smart and knowledgeable about head/neck/jaw area pain. She takes the time to thoroughly discuss my concerns and issues, taking detailed notes. She had numerous ways to work with my pain and explained everything scientifically so I could understand all about what was happening and why. She had a ton of techniques in office and for me to utilize out of office. Every visit I left feeling more confident and in less pain! I would highly recommend her.
(2023) Update: Almost 2 years later, I am pain free in my jaw and neck. I have put lifestyle strategies Debbie taught me into practice and continue to do my exercises. I am now a Physical Therapist and can appreciate her skill set even more. Debbie uses specialized techniques that require significant training beyond a typical physical therapist’s curriculum! My quality of life has improved tremendously since I sought Debbie’s care.(2021) I have had pain in my neck and jaw for 2 years and finally decided to seek treatment. I am a physical therapy student, so I knew PT was an option I wanted to try. Debbie is AMAZING. She really cares about her patients, and her techniques are very specific and effective. She has a wide breadth and depth of knowledge of a complex body region and for that I was able to fully entrust my care to her. She is a compassionate, excellent clinician, and I highly recommend her services to anyone with head/neck/jaw pain.
I was so fortunate to have found Dr Debbie. She is an amazing PT. I felt from my very first appointment that she really cared about me and my diagnosis. After just a few visits, I stated to feel much better. I can not recommend her highly enough. I am so much better and can not ever sing her praises high enough. You will not be disappointed !!!
I was thrilled to be referred to Dr. Debbie Clarke for the pain I was experiencing from TMJ. She was very knowledgeable, explaining how all of the muscles were connected and how some everyday activities (like working on a computer) might be irritating the issue. She gave easy suggestions on exercises to incorporate into my day or changes to habits to alleviate the pain. She was also available via text for any questions between appointments. I had a great experience!
In 2008, I had taken a very bad injury to my jaw in a sparring match in TaeKwonDo. It was a kick to my face that had broken my jaw and had surgery to fix it. I had taken other injuries to my neck and head areas here and there in my life, that I never knew could be made so much better.I started going to Dr Debbie Clarke on January 3rd this year due to a very scary thing where my jaw had locked open and dislocated. After a little over a month, she has fixed the mobility issue of my jaw. For the past 15 plus years I had headaches every other day. After getting treatment from Dr Debbie Clarke, I have had zero headaches. I had neck vertebrae instability that I had not realized how much it was an issue until she started to correct it.After years and years of having these horrible issues that I had just accepted, they are not only corrected, but I feel like a new person.Thank you Dr Debbie Clarke at Cranial Pain Solutions for the possibility to have this!
We were referred to Debbie Clarke at Cranial Pain Solutions by our trusted Orthodontist. My daughter had been having jaw pain and headaches on and off for over two years. Other treatments had not helped and it was becoming increasingly more painful. It had become clear that her jaw was not working properly and the problem was not going away. Shortly after we made the appointment, my daughter suffered a concussion and whiplash during a soccer game. So she was in a bad state when we met Debbie Clarke. At our first appointment, Debbie did a thorough evaluation to find the source of the pain in my child’s jaw, head and neck. Debbie used gentle movements while assessing my daughter, looking for abnormalities or impairments in movement patterns. Debbie took her time to explain what she was going to do and why, making sure my child was comfortable to proceed and also understood the process.During the sessions, Debbie used different manual techniques. She performed myofascial release, joint and soft tissue mobilization and dry needling. I was in complete shock when my daughter agreed to have dry needling done on her jaw. My daughter absolutely hates needles but she trusted Debbie enough to let her do it! That is really saying something about how great Debbie is with her patients. My daughter said the dry needling gave her so much relief from pain.At each visit, Debbie taught my daughter exercises that would promote healing and could be done at home. The exercises included learning proper posture and improved the function and movement of her jaw and neck. My daughter did these exercises in between visits and she saw fast improvement!Debbie is an incredibly kind and professional person. Her office was private and had a pleasant atmosphere.
I am an orthopaedic patient for 40 years and recently had my left ankle replaced. I wanted to enhance my range of motion and pattern of walking. I was referred to Cranial Pain Solutions by a good friend. The assessment was the most thorough evaluation, Dr. Debbie Clarke's knowledge base of muscles, bones, and how one part of the body's movement can affect another was THOROUGH!!!!! Besides actively listening to my concerns, Dr. Deb observed my walk pattern and actually walked behind and alongside of me. I was able to schedule weekly sessions, then as goals were met, my sessions were scheduled monthly. Currently I continue home maintenance exercises. My range of motion and walking have significantly improved and the plantar fascia inflammation I have as a result of the surgery has decreased significantly. My sessions were relaxed and I left with a feeling of accomplishment. Dr Deb is truly a caring person and easy to talk to. Thank you Dr. Deb for giving me my life back!!!!!!
I can't speak highly enough of my experience here! I have suffered with TMJ issues and jaw spasms since I was a teenager. Dr Clarke helped me by equipping me with knowledge about why I was having trouble, incredible in-office PT, and reasonable at-home exercises. She blew me away with her intelligence and kindness. She was also very flexible with scheduling! The treatment I received here was truly life changing. I'm not scared of the next time my pain takes enjoyment from my life, but rather i feel empowered to face any difficulty head on, knowing I can overcome it with what I learned from Dr. Clarke!
Debbie Clarke is an amazing physical therapist! She has indepth knowledge of TMJ and helped me tremendously after my jaw had been locked for about 3 months, more than the dentists and oral surgeon did. You can tell she cares about you as a person. She takes a holistic approach, looking at all parts of how your body functioning in her therapy and the exercises she gives you to do at home to make a plan for you. I can say enough positive things about her.
Debbie has been an angel during my recovery of chronic neck pain and tension headaches. I am happy to say that I am 90% healed after 7 months of discomfort. Each appt, she taught me so much including underlying causes for the discomfort followed by ways to treat these issues for long term benefits. She was always flexible with the schedule and available via text 24/7 to discuss any post treatment questions/concerns. I’m very thankful for her and highly recommend!!
I was referred to Debbie by my oral surgeon after developing a painful knot on my right masseter muscle and tingling/numbness along my jaw and gumline after having my lower wisdom teeth extracted. After just one session with Debbie, I was virtually pain free! Our session included massage work with dry needling and Debbie made sure I was relaxed and comfortable throughout, making sure to explain each step in the process. I can't imagine how much more pain I would still be in right now, had it not been for Debbie's expertise and care.
I was referred to Dr. Debbie by someone I trust. She had shared with me the success she had working with her. At this point I was in so much pain from a pinched nerve that I tried to stand up to sleep. I couldn’t walk my puppy, go down stairs. My quality of life was a -5 on a 1-10 scale. Dr. Debbie gave me hope, courage and taught me about a drug free healing in which I learned how to help my body heal itself. If you are in pain, stop reading this and just call her. You will never regret that decision. Work with someone that is worth entrusting your health to. Choose Dr. Debbie.
Dr. Clarke has significantly improved my daily life. After working with multiple dentists trying to figure out how to improve my TMJ issues, I was told that surgical intervention may be my next step as I literally couldn't open my mouth enough to eat a sandwich. Dr. Clarke was able to assess the root cause of my pain and mobility problem and develop a structured plan on how to get me functioning properly again. She has also educated me on how different behaviors and parts of my body affect my jaw. She listens, processes and delivers thoughtful suggestions and solutions. Her gentle and relatable bedside manner is a huge plus- I feel like I've gained a friend! She has truly helped heal me both physically and mentally and I will continue to see her on a regular basis for "preventative maintenance". She is the BEST!!
I had being coming here for about a year. I love getting work on I am triathlete and mom if 4 so I stay pretty busy. So when my body is screaming at me I book an appointment for dry needling treatment it always helps me with pain. I usually get it done in the morning as the day goes by I feel the pain decreasing. I am a big believer of dry needling treatment for pain management. I usually say Debbie has the magic touch she always finds the right spots that I need work. Thank you so much Dr. Clark.
Debbie is great! She was able to help me identify the cause of my TMJ problems. I was having a lot of clicking and popping. We did a consultation first, and then she helped me with exercises to correct the jaw movement. Highly recommend her. She listens to the patient and cares about them.
Since 2015 I have partnered with Debbie for treatment of multiple complexities, among them Cervical and Lumbar Spinal Stenosis. I chose Debbie because of her personalized, consistent and intuitive therapeutic approaches. In 2020 when Debbie opened her private practice, I chose to self pay vs Medicare. I have had decades of physical therapy and clearly Debbie is outstanding in her field! You’ll be in capable and good hands.
I was having terrible neck and shoulder pain with headaches. Medications were not helping. I couldn’t sleep, work or concentrate. My family doctor and chiropractor were not helping. After seeing Dr. Clarke for the initial evaluation she was able to pinpoint the problem. I felt improvement in my symptoms the first day! She was able to relieve my pain with the dry needling and therapy. As a nurse my job is physically demanding. She gave me stretches, exercises and proper body mechanics to prevent a relapse. I highly recommend Cranial Pain Solutions!
Dr. Clark is a miracle worker. Our daughter had a locked jaw which was opened by manipulation by another physician. But with follow up therapy after the procedure she was able to have normal opening. We are so thankful to her. She is not as expensive as one would think. Tmj is a poorly supported field in insurance world but Dr. Clark makes it affordable. Very polite and caring!Pritha, Sam and Soma
I've been working with Debbie for almost 3 years now on my TMJ issues and she's truly been a heavensent. Not only does she provide a personalized health plan, she works with you to ensure you're living as pain-free as possible. The dry needling changed my life and now my TMJ pain is manageable and I don't have lockjaw and can chew freely. Trust me she's worth spending the money!!
I suffer with a small airway and vocal cord paralysis and have chronic overuse of all my accessory respiratory muscles. This affects my breathing, speaking and swallowing and causes chronic pain. Debbie Clarke DPT has been treating me for 3 years and I have reduction of my pain and ease of my work of breathing with her dedicated therapy. She listens so carefully every week as to how I am doing and feeling. She understands and validates how I feel and how my disability affects my life. Her knowledge of head and neck anatomy is all encompassing and how alignment, muscles, fascia and tendons and scar tissue all interplay with each other and how I feel. Debbie Clarke DPT is integral in my ability to stay functional, independent and healthy. Call her, she will help you.Donna Lambers MD
My name is Susan Woodcock. I am 62 and since 2008 I've had compounding back problems. After several lumbar injections, two different rounds of PT, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, spinal fusion surgery and more PT I was still in pain. Debbie Clarke and Myofascial Release changed everything! In the past four years Debbie has released nerves being strangled by scar tissue so I could use my left leg again. Given me back full use of my arthritic right hand. Gave me complete relief in my right shoulder and we are currently working on my left shoulder. Oh, and let"s not forget the second bulging disc/nerve that had me unable to move and none of the doctor prescribed pain killers could touch. One hour of Debbie's knowledge and hand magic and no more pain. Debbie Clarke and her Myofascial Release can and have helped heal more then I could have ever imagined. Five stars aren't enough to say thank you Debbie!
Dr. Debbie Clarke is a first-rate physical therapist. Her experience, knowledge, and ability to effectively treat ailments is top notch. There are many physical therapists out there, and I am familiar with a number of them. However, very few are in a class of their own. I would consider Dr. Debbie Clarke in that class.
